Laura Linney, best known for playing strong, yet weak characters, is among of the most celebrated American actors of today. Born to a famous playwright's father, and being raised by a single mother who worked in the field of nursing, she became interested in theatre while having summers spent with her father then pursuing acting studies, initially at Brown University and then at Juilliard School. She began her Broadway career soon after completing her degree, and then made her TV debut in the next year. Innumerable appearances in movies, television shows and stage productions since then. In her long professional career, she's received numerous awards. These include two Golden Globe Awards and four Primetime Emmy Awards as well as three Academy Award nominations and five Tony Award nominations. Though she was awarded numerous prizes throughout her career, theatre is always her main passion.
