April Lockhart
April Lockhart was born on July 4 1995 in seventh grade. She began playing guitar and piano classes, which ignited her interest in writing songs. at the age of 12, April wrote her first song Different. The year she turned 14 was when she devoted a great deal of her time creating song concepts and practicing her music. Over the next few months, she began taking notes along with her father in LA in addition to NY. April also began incorporating other relevant topics into the song, which she called the Take my Hand song for some close friends, like peer pressure disabilities and teen suicide. Lockhart also enjoys an increasing fan base as a lifestyle blogger and works for popular Clean Beauty company Ilia. As a woman born with no left hand, she has a significant part to play in herself. It's however not her entire story. Lockhart's Instagram page doesn't overlook her handicap. It also doesn't emphasize the issue. The profile is a statement. The message is: We all have numerous identities. We're much way more diverse than we think we are. Lockhart says in a video interview with Lockhart via video "I do not believe that disability is what defines my character. I don't intend to be an influencer on disability, because I've so much more to offer." My everyday life isn't directly affected by disability. I go about my regular, everyday life and find myself solutions for problems. It's an integral part of my life, so it is important to talk about it. Self-acceptance is a lifelong marathon however Lockhart is a true inspiration in this regard. Even so, Lockhart admits having moments when she felt uncomfortable with her appearance and wearing clothing that showed her arms. She wears whatever she wants and posts photos of herself in the outfits she wears on social platforms. Self-love for her was always a lengthy journey. This is true for everyone, regardless of their insecurity. It's my opinion that having those close to you who truly are aware of you and know your heart is really important because they'll be the people who will remind you what you concerned about?
